The right to own a firearm is a privilege that we enjoy in the United States. Along with that right comes a responsibility to know how to use it safely. Whether I sell you a firearm or just handle your firearm transfer, you can rest assured that I will answer your questions and assist you with acquiring the knowledge and training you need to be a consciously competent gun owner.

David Gaines, President
Gulf Coast Firearms

Gulf Coast Firearms

Gulf Coast Firearms is a home and internet-based firearms business organized in the State of Texas as a Limited Liability Company and licensed by the U. S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as a manufacturer of firearms other than destructive devices. In addition, we hold a current Special Occupational Tax Stamp as a National Firearms Act Manufacturer.
Simply said, we can assist you with just about all of your firearms purchases, including short barreled rifles and shotguns, machine guns, and silencers. But, we can do more than just sales. We provide gunsmith services if you are in need of a repair or modification to a firearm you already own and we can provide firearms training and help you get your Texas Concealed Handgun License. Also, if you buy a firearm elsewhere and need a FFL to do the transfer for you, our price of $17.50 per firearm is hard to beat! Finally, Gulf Coast Firearms is proud to be an “A+” rated member of the Greater Houston Better Business Bureau.

A Little About Me…

My name is David Gaines and I own Gulf Coast Firearms, an internet based, federally licensed firearms business that I operate from my home. I have been around guns all my life. From an early age I was introduced to them and taught to respect them. I have owned rifles and shotguns, as well as, pistols and revolvers. As an adult I received formal training from the National Rifle Association and have earned the status of NRA Certified Instructor for Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection In the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home, and Home Firearms Safety. Additionally, I am certified by the NRA as a Chief Range Safety Officer and by The Texas Department of Public Safety as a Texas Concealed Handgun Instructor. I am a graduate of the Ashworth College Gunsmithing Program and a member of the Amercan Gunsmithing Association.
I am driven and determined. I put myself through college and graduate school earning a MBA in finance and management. In my earlier years I put myself through the training and worked full time as a paramedic and eventually went on to be the director of a large community college-based Emergency Medical Services degree program. Many of my former students are now EMS Directors, Flight Paramedics and Flight Nurses for various helicopter EMS services, in addition to being line paramedics and officers in a number of EMS services. Some have even gone on to become physicians or nurse practitioners or physician assistants. I was one of the original six flight paramedics hired by Hermann Life Flight. My career path led me away from EMS a number of years ago, but has allowed me to see the world. Throw a dart at a map on the wall and it is likely that I have traveled to near where it landed.

My pastimes include:

Amateur (Ham) Radio – I have an advanced class license – KF5VA
General Aviation – I am a private pilot working toward my instrument rating
Scuba Diving – Advanced Open Water Certified by SSI
U. S. Civil Air Patrol – Captain, Operations Section Chief
